Are you a sucker for honey - Cocktails?
By madhudhara
Honey has already taken the place of sugar as a healthier and natural sweetener. It also acts as a sweetener in beverages but recently it is used in alcoholic drinks too!
If suddenly adding honey makes alcohol healthier, I don’t know what a better excuse to get drunk is.
There are several options in a bartender's arsenal for a drink that requires a dose of sweetness because it is too bitter. While you could go for your go-to bottle of simple syrup to numb the pain, some are substituting honey, which is more natural. Contrary to simple syrup or agave nectar, which sometimes fade into the background in cocktails, honey's thickness and depth of taste may stand up against other components. Just try to picture a Bee's Knees without the sticky substance. You would be left with little more than a tumbler of gin and some lemon juice.
Creating the perfect cocktail with a dash of honey
Bartenders are familiar with the chemistry of each cocktail and how its components interact. Using honey in cocktails differs from using it in tea or other hot beverages because of temperature. Due to its thick consistency, honey won't simply dissolve in cold beverages or blend with the other components.
